In order to fulfil their mission to support
and propagate the Christian faith in the Holy Land through prayer and almsgiving Knights and Dames of the Order undertake to deepen their own spiritual lives and faith based on a strong commitment to prayer. They also undertake to
live exemplary lives of Christian virtue as a witness to the values of the faith which animates them, a faith rooted in Christ himself who lived, died and rose again in the land at the heart of the
Order’s work.
Each Lieutenancy organises events to help their members achieve this aim. In the Scottish Lieutenancy this is done through a regular programme of meetings and events to strengthen and broaden the
faith which members share. These include an annual weekend retreat, days of recollection and spiritual formation, Lieutenancy Masses, and pilgrimages to places with a strong Christian tradition at
home or abroad e.g. Iona, Lindisfarne and Holy Island, Rome, and The Holy Land itself.
You can join with members in this mission by adding your own prayers to theirs. On the sub-menu above,
you will see some prayers which are regularly used by members both for
their own spiritual development and for the support of the Church in the Holy Land. You will notice that the mediation of much of our prayer is made through Mary, Queen of Palestine, as she has a
special concern for the land of her birth and life.
